IOD Air Dry Clay

New and improved paper clay that’s perfectly designed for the IOD moulds. This super soft, air-dry clay comes in a larger 14-ounce size. Our beautifully soft and pliable air paper dry clay works beautifully with our Decor Moulds, like Classical Elements.

IOD air-dry clay is an air-dry medium and one of our favourites. Like most paper pulp-based air dry clays, some shrinking, warping, and cracking are inherent. We like these qualities for a distressed, authentically vintage look. Our favourite way to apply moulded pieces is to remove them from the mould while still moist and adhere them to the surface with Tacky Glue, so it conforms well. For vertical surfaces, use a piece of low tack tape to hold it in place so it doesn’t slide.

TIP: When we use air-dry clay for casting, we love to glue them down while wet, right out of the mould. Inevitably, when they dry, they crack a bit here and there because of shrinkage. We embrace this and use it to our vintage advantage, BUT, if there are any that you aren’t pleased with, backfill them with a bit more clay after they are dried, and give them another coat of chalk paint, easy peasy.
